Uncontested Divorce in Ottawa
Do you need an uncontested divorce in Ottawa?
A divorce is the legal end of a marriage. Obtaining a divorce allows you to remarry.
An uncontested divorce is when the parties agree on all the related issues (e.g. support, custody, etc.). One spouse starts the divorce Application, and when the other person does not file an Answer, it proceeds on an "uncontested" basis.
Even an uncontested divorce takes time. You should allow at least twelve (12) weeks for the court to process the paperwork involved. The Divorce Order is then effective 31 days after it is signed by the judge. You cannot remarry until the Order is effective.
