I am an Ottawa family lawyer.
Welcome to the new blog of The Law Office of Jennifer Reynolds! I look forward to using this space to share legal information related to separation and divorce with you, so that you can be better informed as you go through what can be a difficult and confusing process.
When searching the web, you can find countless family lawyers in Ottawa and a wealth of legal information regarding separation and divorce. So why would you choose The Law Office of Jennifer Reynolds as your source for information and representation? In this post and the next, I will answer that question by telling you firstly about me, and secondly about the kind of clients I represent.
You can find out facts about me on my About page. This blog post is about something different: it’s about who I am to my clients and my approach to family law.
The first thing that makes me different is my educational background. My undergraduate degree was in Child Studies and Early Childhood Education. I was motivated to attend law school by a desire to make a genuine difference in the lives of the children and families I studied. I have long been a champion for children and families, and I want to help you resolve your legal issues in the most humane way possible. I use the knowledge and experience I gained in my university career to help you. I attended law school because I wanted to make a difference in the lives of the children and families I studied, met and taught in university.
How I Can Help You
I will take the time to hear your story and to understand what you are going through, to answer your questions, and offer you immediate help with both legal and practical matters in the short-term while we plan for your future. I will look out for you by helping to take care of the legal details and being honest with you. I will help you set boundaries and guidelines for solid, long-term co-parenting with your former spouse. I will help you protect your family’s future as well as your own.
I will help you diffuse what can be a very difficult and tense situation by campaigning and advocating for a careful, thorough and thoughtful resolution to the legal issues that arise during a separation. I will take the time to ensure you understand the process, the law and your options and that you are as comfortable with it as possible, because at the end of the day your separation is about you and your children, not about me.
I take pride in the fact that I am conversational, friendly and personable, but I am also serious about doing the right thing for my clients. I will advocate you and stick up for you when necessary, and I will empower you to make informed decisions about your future with both concern and honesty as I support you through this process. I recognize that when a couple separates, the family does not: I will help you work with your former spouse to rebuild your family in a new way.
